How to journal for your wellbeing

New to Pen Therapy, and maybe journaling in general? Here I’ll share an intro as to what it’s all about, including plenty of reasons why you should grab your pen and paper!

Pen Therapy includes affordable weekly online sessions that follow a cycle of 8 wellbeing themes. These include:

  • Mindset Shift

  • Self-Love Lessons

  • Gratitude Boost

  • Finding Balance

  • Building Boundaries

  • Beyond Failure

  • Hello Confidence

  • Total Vulnerability

Each session that you complete online includes creative prompts that are designed to explore the chosen theme. The goal is to dig deeper in understanding self, and building self-awareness through journaling.

Any time you attend a session, no two sessions are the same.

There will always be brand new prompts for you to work through. The benefit of running Pen Therapy in this way is that you know the theme, but you don’t know what journaling prompts will be coming your way for any given session. The intention behind this is to challenge you in new ways when exploring self, as typically when you are journaling for yourself, you will write about the things that you are comfortable writing about without pushing yourself to a certain point. Through our Pen Therapy sessions, you can attend knowing that you will get a real sense of depth from the experience.

Often we don’t even get the time to think about ourselves, let alone to write about how we feel, so Pen Therapy is an hour a week where you can commit to yourself entirely.

As someone who always finds solace in my words, one thing I find with journaling is that writing about generic topics to exercise your thinking is one thing, but writing for your wellbeing challenges you to a depth of finding a language for your feelings and ultimately your wellbeing. Just a couple of examples of areas that come into question include:

  • How do I define my vulnerablity?

  • How do I understand the way I love myself?

If your goal is to get under the layers of who you are, journaling with Pen Therapy is a great way to do that as the prompts will help you to tap into particular areas of your wellbeing.

Pen Therapy is designed to be a regular part of your life. By booking your place for a session and checking-in with yourself once a week to journal for your wellbeing, you are making a commitment to an hour of me-time. You’ll join us online to work through the prompts at your own pace.

In the same way that you would commit to a form of fitness such as attending the gym, this is a commitment to the health of your mind.

I always say to Pen Therapy attendees that the goal with wellbeing journaling is to get to a point where it feels like you are having a conversation with yourself.

To actually get to know all of who you are, and to build a genuine, loving relationship with self.

Book your place for any one of our upcoming sessions, designed to suit everyone from first-timer to seasoned writer!
